Proposed Rate Increases for 2016

PRESTON PUBLIC UTILITIES

NOTICE OF UTILITY RATE INCREASE

At the regular Public Utility Commission meeting on November 10, 2015, the commission voted to raise the electric charges by 3%, water charges by 10% and sewer charges by 10%. This increase will be effective January 1, 2016. The average residential customer will see an increase in their monthly utility bill of $1.22 for electric, $1.86 for water and $1.81 for sewer. The reasons for the rate increases are a 6% increase in the City’s wholesale electric cost and water and sewer debt payments related to the 2014 Street & Utility Improvement Project.
